How To Join

This thread is for all the new people out there, the people interested in the game and eager to get involved. As Moderators, we felt it best that we have the basics all in one thread so that way there would be no confusion and little to no hassle for you as a potential player. There are a few points that you'll need to read to better your knowledge of how everything works, these are now listed below:

Synopsis: It's vitally important that you read this before even contemplating being involved in the game. When reading the synopsis, consider if it's a game you could see yourself involved with and if it's a game that would keep and hold your attention. The game will and does move fast, call us overeager but isn't it better that way? Bear this in mind, if you're not able to post at least twice a week, this game might not be for you. Please also note that this game picks up from where season two of the series left off and a lot of things have been added in, it's very AU and we like it that way.

Rules: Please make sure you read the rules because you will need to adhere to these rules if you wish to participate. None of these rules are flexible, we have rules for a reason. Rules maintain order and allow the Moderators to remain as neutral and impassive as they possibly can. Rules aren't put in place to hamper or even dampen your roleplaying experience, just to give it some structure. You will not be able to play in this game if you do not follow the rules.

Creation: Creating an original character isn't as easy as it would seem, it's difficult creating a character from out of thin air but I am sure that by now you have some idea of what you who or what you want your character to be. However, having said that, there are a lot of things to consider. You'll need to decide on occupation, what ship they happen to be stationed on, if you want your character to know others from before the Colonies were destroyed but remember, not everyone will have known someone from that time. Once you've completed your application, please email it to the Moderator email: kobols_legacies[at]yahoo.com where it can be looked over by a Moderator before being approved or not as the case may be. If your character is refused, we will email you back and explain the reasons behind it along with if there are any adjustments you could make to have the character improved. Once you have been improved, you will have to set up a Greatest Journal account for your character, so you can post in the game In-Character. Also remember to join the GJ Kobol's Legacies RP community. Your character will be linked to this board via the character profile thread.

Getting Started:
When you have your character and you're ready to begin, it's best for you to place your character somewhere public. Examples of this are: The mess hall, sickbay (also known as 'Lifestation'), Pilot's quarters or simply in one of the corridors or out on deck. This should encourage other players to interact with your character.

The Synopsis

This will be in a separate thread on the MOD site and linked at a later time to OCC. [Brief Summary]

Rules For Posting

Please make sure you read these through and give them some consideration.

Characters: To begin with, you will be allowed one established character and one original character. We advise you start with two characters so you can dedicate your time to that character and we can familiarise ourselves with your way of roleplaying. The number will increase once we as Moderators are confident in your ability to take part and maintain your characters.

Absence:
If you are to be absent for any length of time and by this we mean a few days (4 maximum), we ask that you post your absence. We would like a start and end date just so we know how long you'll be away and if there's anything we have to do in order to keep the board ticking over. If you can, ask a trusted friend from the roleplay to cover for you or if the character is needed for any current storylines, please state in an open forum that it's okay for your character to be included in other posts.

Golden Rule For Interacting:
This is an important one, DO NOT WRITE FOR CHARACTERS PLAYED BY SOMEONE ELSE. If you are interested in interacting with another character, contact the player behind that player and express this interest. There are a few easy ways to do this. There is the use of IM, email or even leaving an open ended post on the board for the character in question. There are a few exceptions to this rule and those are : If you've been given permission by the player to use the character and if so, state this very clearly or if the player is absent and you're able to mention their character in a post.

Rules For Characters

Just a few basics so you know how everything works.

Canon Characters:
This refers to the characters in the series itself. It's important to keep them in line to what has been established in the series. As the roleplay evolves, these characters will as well so changes are expected but as long as the fundamentals remain the same, there shouldn't be a problem. And if you are picking a canon character up from where a previous player left off, please be willing to consider picking up any residual storylines that they might have been involved in. You will be told all that you need to know in order for you to play the character to the best of your ability.

Original Characters:
When original characters are created, please send the application to the Moderators for approval. Once approval is given, please post them to the correct forum. If you wish for them to have history with characters already in game, confer with the players of those characters first of all. If you are interested in picking up a Cylon character, this will need to approved by the Moderators and it's dependant on a probabtional period being fulfilled.

Important Note:
This roleplay takes place after the end of Season Two, we have a slightly different history about New Caprica developed already. We may or may not take elements from the later seasons into the game but the game's storyline is different. We have gone off in our own direction, please keep this in mind when developing your characters and their history.

Rules In Regards To M.I.A.'s

An important rule to have as we all know that sometimes people vanish without a word to anyone and a decision has to be made in regards to their character.

General Procedure: When a player for whatever reason, disappears. Their character has not posted for a week and they have not advised anyone about time away and made their character temporarily available, they will be considered Missing In Action. These players will be given two weeks to reappear and back into the game, if they do not do this by the time those two weeks are up, their character will become available. Repeated disappearances will also result in loss of character.
